Spanberger orders termination of Virginia cooperation with ICE

Published

Gov. Abigail Spanberger (D-VA) ordered the termination of Virginia’s cooperation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement, a policy previously championed by former Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin.

Spanberger rescinded last year’s Executive Order No. 47 with Executive Order No. 10, terminating the Virginia State Police’s agreement with ICE, called 287(g). In her directive, Spanberger justified the move as devoting more resources to protecting communities.
