The primary elections in Prince William County earned Republican Dumfries District Supervisor Maureen Caddigan a fifth term and set the table for another contested general election campaign.
Frank Principi won the Democratic nomination over George Delimba for the Woodbridge District and will now face Republican Chris Royce in November in a bid to replace retiring Democratic supervisor Hilda Barg.

Caddigan attributed her 1,267-to-306 vote victory over Dumfries Town Council Member Charles “Cliff” Brewer to her record. Caddigan was involved in completing a Marine Corps museum and new ballparks, as well as winning approval for a library and widening part of Route 234 to six lanes.
“I have a track record, and when I say I’m going to do something, I follow through,” Caddigan said.
Principi, a crisis-management consultant running on controlling growth and his role on a committee studying the county’s future, defeated Delimba 463 to 216, after winning Barg’s endorsement.
