Politicos and their scandals have made for splashy headlines lately, leaving most details overexposed in the media frenzy. But some of the juiciest exposes lay tucked away in the quiet pages of a book.
Here’s a look at some of the latest ones to hit the shelves:
“The Politician”: After he finally acknowledged to fathering a love child with campaign videographer Rielle Hunter last week, John Edwards will face another round of beatings when former campaign staffer Andrew Young releases his tell-all Feb. 2. Young was an uber-loyalist to Edwards during the campaign, (so much so that he claimed baby Quinn, the love child, was his own), and his book will recount the sordid tale of Edwards’ deceit. But that’s not all: Young’s book contains a nugget on an unmarked DVD that sources to Gawker say contains “several sex acts” between Edwards and his mistress.
“Staying True”: Jenny Sanford will air out her dirty laundry next week with the release of her book recounting “her very public betrayal” by South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford’s affair with an Argentinian mistress. The book originally was scheduled for release in April, but now hits bookstores Feb. 5.
Jenny Sanford will appear on ABC’s “The View” Feb. 8 as part of her media tour.
“Game Change”: Mark Halperin and John Heilemann, in their off-the-record insight into the 2008 presidential campaign, dished out a preview of what’s to come in Young’s book with their portrayal of the Edwards’ marriage.
As for Sen. John Ensign, R-Nev., he hasn’t been sold out yet for a book on his affair with a former staffer, but we’re looking forward to the juicy details from the Senate Ethics Committee and the FBI investigation.
