Potential 2016 candidate Fiorina hires RNC staffer

A Republican National Committee aide announced Friday that she has signed on to work with Carly Fiorina, a move sure to further stoke further speculation that Fiorina is preparing to run for president.

Sarah Isgur Flores, formerly the RNC’s deputy communications director, will work for Fiorina’s political action committee, Unlocking Potential Project. Flores confirmed the move, first reported by CNN, in an email to reporters and colleagues.

Fiorina, a former Hewlett-Packard CEO, unsuccessfully challenged Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer in California in 2010. Fiorina’s political operation is still in debt from that failed campaign, which has led to some doubts about her prospects as a presidential candidate. Fiorina, also, has never held elected office.

But Fiorina’s business background would likely be at the heart of her presidential pitch, and her connections in that sphere could lend themselves to a strong national fundraising operation. She is also perhaps the sole Republican woman seriously considering a bid for the presidency in 2016.
