Ohio Gov. John Kasich raised $160,000 Friday night at a New Jersey fundraiser at the home of former governor Christine Todd Whitman.
Various other New Jersey state officials attended, the Bergen Record reports. Whitman, an outspoken moderate Republican who served, with some controversy, as head of the Environmental Protection Agency under George W. Bush, supports Kasich.
Whitman has broken sharply with current New Jersey Republican Gov.Chris Christie, who endorsed Donald Trump after dropping out of the presidential race.
Whitman has said she would back Hillary Clinton over Trump in the general election, but that she hopes it doesn’t come to that. New Jersey Republicans hold their presidential primary in June.
