With 171,221 of 187,088 precincts, or 92 percent, reporting, Democrat Barack Obama leaves with 52 percent of the popular vote versus 47 percent for Republican John McCain.

Here’s the breakdown:

Obama: 60,533,136 – 52 percent. He has won 28 states including the District of Columbia with 349 electoral votes and leads in one state with 15 electoral votes.

McCain: 54,177,262 – 47 percent. He has won 20 states with 147 electoral votes and leads in two states with 26 electoral votes.

Others: 1,434,846 – 1 percent with no states won.

Needed to win: 270 of the 538 electoral votes.
