Some free advice for the ladies out there: If he wants to nix the fidelity vow, it’s probably a sign.
Despite her husband’s refusal to promise to remain faithful, South Carolina first lady Jenny Sanford said in an interview on “20/20” with ABC’s Barbara Walters that she married Gov. Mark Sanford on a “leap of faith.”
“It bothered me to some extent, but … we were very young, we were in love,” Jenny Sanford told Walters. “I questioned it, but I got past it … along with other doubts that I had.”
Sanford’s book “Staying True,” which recounts her “very public betrayal” by the governor’s affair with an Argentine woman, hits bookstores Friday.
In the interview, Sanford recalled her first instinct to forgive her husband when she learned of the affair and then recounted her anxiety when he continued to visit a woman he called his “soul mate.”
