Japanese Ambassador Ichiro Fujisaki was absolutely delighted to be the named an honorary chair of Thursday night’s Refugees International Anniversary Dinner. He was excited, in part, because the dinner took place the night before he and wife Yoriko Fujisaki marked a very special date.
“This is the eve of our 25th anniversary,” he said beaming. But wait, that’s not right. “I’m sorry, it was 35th,” he quickly corrected from the podium, but not fast enough before the entire audience at Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium caught wind of the mistake and started laughing. “I feel very young being with her,” he said.
