Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on Sunday mourned the passing of author and Nobel laureate Elie Wiesel Sunday, saying “the world is a better place because of him.”
Wiesel, the author of Night, an account of his ordeal at Buchenwald during World War II, died Saturday at age 87. He devoted his life to the cause of Holocaust remembrance and civil rights.

The tweet followed a rough weekend for Trump in which critics said a tweet he posted against Hillary Clinton contained anti-Semitic imagery. Trump ultimately deleted the post.
