Tuesday marked first lady Michelle Obama‘s one and only book signing for her new book “American Grown,” as flocks of fans looped around the downtown D.C. Barnes & Noble holding copies for the first-time author to sign.

“I wanted the book to be beautiful and I think that the pictures are absolutely beautiful,” FLOTUS cooed to the crowd. “I could tell because when Malia and Sasha picked it up, you know it’s mom, it’s like, ‘ohhh, your book, how nice,’…They actually got pulled in by the pictures and they couldn’t put it down and they started looking through and then they actually were reading it and then eventually I got a thumbs up,” she said, to big laughs.
About 250 people were able to get their books signed, as the first lady stayed longer than she was originally scheduled for to accommodate the crowd.
