Arlington County Board Vice Chairman Walter Tejada raised $16,775 in two months this summer, the most of any candidate running for the county board.

Mary Hynes, opposing Tejada for the Democratic nomination, has raised the most during the whole campaign: $29,565 to Tejada’s $27,005. Hynes received just $2,320 in July and August, the same two months. The candidates’ fundraising numbers were released last week and cover the fundraising period between July 1 and Aug. 31.

Not far behind the Democrats is Republican Michael McMenamin, who raised $8,986 during the summer. McMenamin’s fundraising for the election totals $21,231. The three outpaced two other candidates for the two county board seats on the ballot in November. Joseph Warren, a Republican, received one donation in July — $200 from a Florida man.

Green candidate Josh Ruebner earned $1,116 this cycle, bringing his campaign total to $1,315. He has $1,032 remaining.

Tejada also had the largest number, 108, of individual contributors of either cash or goods and services during the summer. McMenamin had 75, Hynes 36 and Ruebner 16.

Unopposed school board candidate Abby Raphael donated $100 to Tejada’s campaign. Former state Sen. Edward Holland donated $250 to Hynes’ campaign.

Tejada’s remaining war chest also leads the field, with $19,136. Hynes has $9,997 on hand, followed by McMenamin, with $8,673. Warren edged Ruebner, with $1,295 to the Green candidate’s $1,032.

County Board Chairman Paul Ferguson, who is not running for re-election and instead is seeking to replace retiring Circuit Court Clerk Dave Bell, has $8,332 cash on hand. His Republican opponent, Mark Kelly, has $1,500 remaining.

Sheriff Beth Arthur raised just $735 for her re-election campaign in July and August. Her war chest has totaled $22,681 during the campaign. Arthur’s opponent, Steven Strasburg, has no money remaining. Instead, he paid $900 in penalties for filing an earlier campaign finance report late.
