Sunday, Bloody Sunday: Washington Times kills Sunday paper

For most newspapers, it’s the fattest paper of the week, stuffed with supplements and advertisements, but for struggling The Washington Times, the Sunday edition is no more.

Spokesman Don Meyer announced Monday the paper was cutting back to only publishing five days a week, Monday through Friday, and that the last Sunday paper would go out this Sunday, Dec. 27.

“The Washington Times will continue to expand its distribution through electronic media and provide all areas of coverage through the Internet at washingtontimes.com, in addition to the local print edition and our national weekly print edition,” President and Publisher Jonathan Slevin said in the announcement.

The Times already has announced large staff cuts, and lost its top editor and three top executives. The print edition now will cost $1.
