MIA links up with Julian Assange for new talk show

Singer and self-styled rebel MIA has recorded a decidedly non-rebellious theme song for Julian Assange’s new talk show, “The World Tomorrow.”

The much-hyped track turns out to be 30 seconds of bumps and beats barely noticeable over Assange’s self-important voiceover. (“For 500 days now, I’ve been detained without charge,” intoned the WikiLeak’s founder. “But that hasn’t stopped us.”)

WikiLeaks has described MIA as “the Julian Assange of pop,” but her most recent effort at sabotage — flipping the bird during the Super Bowl halftime show — doesn’t exactly compare to publicizing top-secret diplomatic cables.

The singer is also rumored to be appearing on an upcoming episode of the show — named “The World Tomorrow” — which began airing Tuesday.
