The Nationals’ Ryan Zimmerman is engaged

The Nationals third baseman Ryan Zimmerman, 27, put a ring on it this week, proposing to his girlfriend of more than two years Heather Downen, according to D.C. social site Guest of a Guest. A source tells Yeas & Nays that Zimmerman popped the question Wednesday night in D.C., on the eve of both Downen’s 28th birthday and the Nationals home opener. A spokesperson for the Nationals wouldn’t confirm the engagement, saying that they don’t comment on the private lives of their employees.
