Donald Trump continued his tirade against the Bush family Wednesday, attacking both Jeb and George W. Bush for the war in Iraq.
“He’s an embarrassment to the family,” Trump said of Jeb Bush during an appearance Wednesday morning on “Fox and Friends.”
The real estate mogul repeated an attack on President George W. Bush he brought out at the ninth Republican debate Saturday in which he argued the 43rd president did not keep America safe because 9/11 occurred less than a year into his first term.
“Everybody said ‘Oh, we hadn’t thought of that.’ Now everybody’s saying, ‘Wow, we hadn’t thought of that,'” Trump said.
He said George W. Bush allowed the attacks to occur because his intelligence agencies did not communicate prior to 9/11 and because the president’s immigration policies were weak.
“Had my immigration policy been intact, and I’d been president, there’s nobody stronger on borders than I am,” Trump said.
“Most of the people came from Saudi Arabia. They didn’t come from Iraq,” Trump said of the terrorists who led the 9/11 attacks.
Trump also vowed to crack down on the flow of immigration from Syria as president, and said the government does not know the identities of many Syrian immigrants.
“They’re putting them in South Carolina,” Trump warned. The South Carolina Republican primary is on Saturday.
