Trump melts down: ‘How stupid are the people of Iowa?’

Republican candidate Donald Trump went on an extended rant Thursday night, calling Iowa voters “stupid” for supporting Ben Carson and asking how anyone could be so dumb as to believe Carson’s “crap.”

“How stupid are the people of Iowa? How stupid are the people of the country to believe this crap?” he asked in a speech in Iowa.

Trump also mocked Carson’s explanation of how he ended up not stabbing someone as a child because the blade was turned away by his belt buckle.

“So I have a belt: Somebody hits me with a belt, it’s going in because the belt moves this way,” Trump said as he moved his belt around.

“Anybody have a knife? Want to try it on me? Believe me, it ain’t gonna work,” he said. “You’re going to be successful, but he took the knife and went like this and he plunged it into the belt and, amazing, the belt stayed totally flat and the knife broke.”

Trump’s speech followed his decision to compare Carson to a child molester. That drew a complaint from Fiorina, who said Trump would never be “as smart as Ben Carson.”

But Trump also had words for the other candidates. He called Fiorina “Carly whatever the hell her name is,” and said Marco Rubio is “weak like a baby.”

And he took out some of his aggression on the Islamic State, by saying he would “bomb the s–t” out of the group.

Trump is roughly tied with Carson in recent polls.
