JFK’s love letters, telegrams to Swede for sale

Like a post-Valentine’s Day hangover, love letters and telegrams depicting the philandering habits of one of America’s most revered presidents went up for auction Monday.

In an attempt to preserve the love affair between John F. Kennedy and his “Swedish flicka” — a 21-year-old blonde named Gunilla von Post, whom he met weeks before he married his wife, Jacqueline — Legendary Auctions is selling the 14 pieces of correspondence that kept the relationship alive after their passionate kiss on the French Riviera.

“The collection has all of the elements that inspire heavy bidding,” said Doug Allen, CEO and president of Legendary Auctions. “Rarity, uniqueness, first-time offering. It’s the type of item collectors go to war over.”
