RNC: Not even the pope can ‘judge someone’s faith’

“Look, I have total respect and admiration for Pope Francis,” Priebus told Fox News’ Martha MacCallum. “But I do believe that no one’s really in a position to knowingly judge someone’s
faith.”

“I think that’s really between everyone and God, and really that’s something only God knows,” he added.

The leader of the Republican Party said “people can really make judgments” about the religious convictions of other individuals, but he repeated that “only God knows the answers to those questions.”

Trump, the leading GOP presidential candidate, made headlines Thursday for slamming Pope Francis as “disgraceful” shortly after the Holy Father suggested the billionaire’s
call for a wall along the southern U.S. border makes him “un-Christian.” Trump later said, during a town hall on CNN, that he didn’t like arguing with the Pope and thinks he is “doing a very good job.”

“I think the whole world knows that that’s a question that I can’t win on,” Priebus joked on Friday when asked about the feud.
