Less than an hour after the death of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia was reported, a spokesman for Utah Sen. Mike Lee was already prognosticating about the chances of his successor being confirmed under President Obama.
Conn Carroll, the communications director for Lee, tweeted that the chances of the Senate confirming a new justice is “less than zero.”

“What is less than zero? The chances of Obama successfully appointing a Supreme Court Justice to replace Scalia?” Carroll tweeted.
He followed up with, “If anything this will put a full stop to all Obama judicial nominees going forward.”
Scalia was reportedly on a West Texas ranch quail hunting Friday and was found dead Saturday morning after he didn’t show up for breakfast. He was 79.
Scalia has been one of the most prominent voices on the Supreme Court since he began serving in 1986.
The news was first reported by the San Antonio Express-News but was confirmed by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott.
Conn Carroll is a former senior editorial writer for the Washington Examiner.
