The mild-mannered Mark Shriver was feted Wednesday in Washington for his new book “A Good Man: Rediscovering my father, Sargent Shriver” at the Jefferson Hotel. As a prominent member of the Kennedy clan (his mom was Eunice Kennedy Shriver, making him the nephew of President John F. Kennedy) the event attracted a lot of prominent Washingtonians, many of whom Shriver tried to give shout-outs to during his remarks. Former Sen. Chris Dodd probably got the most love.
“He’s great friends with mom and dad, gave a talk at my father’s wake that was incredibly memorable and incredibly touching, I don’t think half of what he said was true…it was all true,” Shriver joked. “I’m a Democrat, too,” Dodd cut in. Also in the crowd we spotted Rep. Steny Hoyer, Sen. Bob Casey, Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, Susan Axelrod, Ed Henry, Jack and Susanna Quinn, Kelly O’Donnell, Luke Russert, Lynn Sweet, Jessica Yellin, John Coale and the list goes on and on. One noticeably missing guest — hostess Tammy Haddad, who was home sick and missed the party.
