Democrats and Republicans are ‘lovin’ each other, according to McDonald’s

A shiny new McDonald’s “I’m lovin’ it” campaign advertisement features two enemies — the blue donkey and the red elephant — making nice over burgers and fries.

The relauch of the fast food giant’s recognizable ad campaign seeks to emphasize the “love” that can be generated between two seemingly opposite individuals by, well, McDonald’s.

“Lovin’ sits at the heart of our business,” explained Chief Marketing Officer for McDonald’s USA Deborah Wahl, according to the Huffington Post. “We are putting lovin’ into everything we do. And we are going to tell customers about it.”

“Over the next few months, we will be reigniting the lovin’ that has been at the heart of our business since the beginning,” Wahl added of the revived campaign.

In addition to the Democrat-Republican hug, the 60-second advertisement — which dropped Friday — depicts various “arch enemies” repairing their relationships by sharing McDonald’s.

There’s the dog and the mailman, the Wicked Witch and Dorothy, Spongebob and Plankton, and Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears fans, among others.

The sweet song that accents the commercial repeats the phrase “love is endless.” You just might be singing it all weekend long after watching.
