[WATCH] Samuel L. Jackson berates reporter for mistaking him for Laurence Fishburne

Ever said something really embarrassing and then tried desperately to change the topic, to no avail? That’s exactly what this entertainment reporter experienced on Monday morning, during what should have been a routine interview with actor Samuel L. Jackson.

The problem? KTLA anchor Sam Rubin apparently thought he was talking to Laurence Fishburne and asked about his Super Bowl commercial. Fishburne had reprised his famous role as Morpheus from The Matrix for a Kia car commercial during the big game.

And when Rubin realized his dreadful mistake, Jackson let him have it.

“You’re a crazy as the people on Twitter!” Jackson exclaimed. “I’m not Laurence Fishburne!”

Rubin then tried to recover, apologizing for his mistake and attempting to change the subject. But Jackson wouldn’t let it go.

“You’re the entertainment reporter for this station?” Jackson asked incredulously, before later adding, “There must be a very short line for your job.”

In Rubin’s defense, there was a commercial for Captain America: The Winter Solider during the Super Bowl, in which Jackson plays Nick Fury.

Rubin later posted an apology, defending himself by saying he does know who Jackson is — but pointing out that the actor’s “shellacking” was “well-deserved.”
