Fred Thompson wasn’t the only conservative actor answering questions over this weekend. The outspoken Jon Voight appeared on Mike Huckabee’s Fox News show Saturday to give his two cents on a variety of topics, from illegal immigration to the IRS, Benghazi, and the unfair treatment of conservative author and filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza.
Voight stressed that he had predicted that Obama would adopt divisive politics.
“Five years ago I stated that Obama would take the country apart piece by piece, that he would cause a civil war in this country,” Voight said. “In hindsight we can see how many things have come to pass.”
More specifically, Voight hammered the Democratic Party over their reaction to Benghazi.
“Let us remember, let us not forget, Benghazi,” he said. “Let us not say ‘what difference does it make.’ Obama found a perfect way to put this under the rug, blaming Republicans, saying that they just want to find fault with his administration. And still to this day we don’t know the truth.”
Toward the end of the interview, Voight singled out the Democratic Party for its social views and said that they have become a “very negative force…more socialistic in their thinking,” which has “given young women the wrong ideas about what democracy really is” when they characterized the Supreme Court’s decision in the Hobby Lobby case as an infringement on liberty.
“[Rep.] Debbie Wasserman Schultz is the gang leader for all the wrong information to our young women,” Voight said, “convincing them that Republicans are stopping their liberties and freedoms of reproduction when the truth is, as the Supreme Court upheld, that religious freedoms are being infringed upon.”
