Marine Le Trump? GOP’s future is a Trump (just not Donald)

There’s one Trump that’s impressing elected Republicans, the mainstream media, and women, but it isn’t Donald.

Ivanka is winning over the hearts and minds of all the people left disenfranchised by her father’s campaign and could inherit Donald’s wing of the GOP to become the American Marine Le Pen.

In the last week, two U.S. Senators praised Ivanka’s political abilities. According to Bridgette Bowman of Roll Call, Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) said he was impressed by the 34 year old and said she spoke and charmed senators after a meeting with her father.

Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) was so blown away by Ivanka that he floated the idea that Donald pick his daughter as his vice presidential candidate.

“His best running mate, by the way, would be Ivanka. I know that wouldn’t pass muster, probably. But I don’t know that I’ve met a more composed, brilliant, beautiful-in-every-way person,” Corker told USA Today.

Like Marine Le Pen, Ivanka has political talents that her father doesn’t posses. She has repeatedly urged her father to use a more moderate tone when speaking about hot-button issues. Ivanka told him to walk back comments about Mexicans being rapists and supported firing Corey Lewandowski months before her father did it.

Politically, Ivanka seems to be as moderate and unpredictable as Donald. She donated to Democrats like Hillary Clinton and Sen. Corey Booker (D-N.J.) as well as Republicans like Mitt Romney. Like her dad, she’s a registered independent.

If she can pick up her father’s populist mantle catering to issues like lower levels of legal immigration, renegotiating free trade agreements to favor U.S. workers, and no longer serve as the world’s policeman, she could become the candidate that Donald never could: a populist Republican who appeals to working-class Democrats while giving the GOP minimal heartburn.

She may also excite other Americans that the GOP has had a tough time attracting such as women, millennials, and Jewish voters.

Just like Marine Le Pen made the Front National a mainstream party that can win elections, Ivanka might do the same for Trumplicans, if she wants it.
