The Citizens Against Selina Meyer Action Committee isn’t holding back its attacks against (faux) Vice President Selina Meyer and is out with new campaign ads highlighting her less-than-presidential moments.
The faux PAC aims to keep Meyer, played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus in the HBO series “Veep,” out of the Oval Office as she prepares to make a run for the White House.
The first video, titled “3 a.m.,” features a profanity-spewing Meyer and tells voters, “It’s 3 a.m., and your kids are safe and asleep. But there’s a phone in the White House, and it’s ringing. There’s trouble happening somewhere in the world.”
The ad then cuts to several less-than-flattering moments featuring the veep, including one where a bandaged Meyer says she walked through a glass door.
“It’s 3 a.m. and your children are asleep. Who do you want answering the phone?” the narrator asks. “Selina Meyer? We don’t want her answering that phone.”
The ad appears to be a spoof of a 2008 ad for then-Sen. Hillary Clinton, which was also called “3 a.m.” and asks viewers who they want answering the phone in the White House.
Another campaign spot released by the faux-PAC includes a compilation of several cringe-worthy gaffes from the vice president. A narrator tells viewers Meyer “insults the disabled community” and cuts to her saying, “It seems like with that cornstarch tweet we were hoist by our own retard.”
It goes on to paint the veep as an “advocate for torture,” and flashes to Meyer telling a man, “Where I come from, we kill people for looking at us funny.”
“We waterboard folks who haven’t even done anything,” she continues.
According to The Hill, HBO confirmed that it created the PAC.
