Jon Stewart and the “The Daily Show” have been on a roll with their election coverage this month. And by on a roll I mean unusually fair to Republicans.
In last night’s episode Stewart figured out what President Barack Obama’s October Surprise is – “he has given up.”
Stewart also ridiculed Obama for his poor excuse for his sorry performance in last week’s debate.
“That’s not leadership, that’s salesmanship,” Obama said of the debate at a fundraiser in San Francisco Monday.
“Right . . . but salesmanship is the thing you invariably need to acquire . . . leadership,” Stewart points out.
Stewart is absolutely right on both accounts.
Last night in an interview with Diane Sawyer that was aired during ABC’s “Nightline,” Sawyer asked Obama if he wanted to win the Presidency “more than the first time?”
“Absolutely,” said the President.
If that’s the case, the President needs to remind Americans why they elected him in the first place by exerting leadership. Hint: That strategy doesn’t involve Big Bird.
BONUS VIDEO: Stewart tells the President and his surrogates to STOP invoking Big Bird in the presidential race.
