Whatever you might think about S.E. Cupp’s decision to back out of the Conservative Political Action Conference, leave her employer MSNBC out of it.
Cupp, co-host of the talk show ‘The Cycle,‘ denied that her work affiliation had anything to do with her choice, asserting that she was not pressured by the liberal news network to decline her CPAC invitation.
“There’s been this idea that somehow this network pressured me out of speaking at CPAC,” she said on MSNBC. “Not even possible. Didn’t happen. I also work for Glenn Beck, who — I don’t know if it gets more conservative than Glenn. My employers on either side were not a factor in this. This was my decision.”
Cupp, who is also a regular on TheBlazeTV, announced last week that she wouldn’t be attending CPAC due to the exclusion of LGBT conservative groups such as GOProud and the Log Cabin Republicans from the list of sponsors. Her statement came just a few days after fellow MSNBC-er Chris Hayes announced that he would not be accepting his invite to speak at the conference.
Her decision hasn’t gone unnoticed. Jimmy LaSalvia, co-founder of GOProud, said he is “very grateful” for Cupp’s support of the group.
