1st Place: Evan McMullin pulls ahead of Trump and Clinton in Utah

Independent candidate Evan McMullin is rising fast in Utah.

Just last week in a Deseret News poll, McMullin was in a statistical tie with Trump and Clinton, trailing them by 4 points 26-to-22 percent, but was within the 4.4 point margin of error.

But now, in an Emerson College Polling Society survey released on Wednesday, the former CIA agent is leading Donald Trump by 4 points in his home state.

McMullin is currently pulling in 31 percent of the vote, while Trump has 27 percent, and Hillary Clinton has 24 percent.

Trump has been on a steady decline in Utah, as Mormon voters cannot fathom voting for a candidate they deem to be immoral. Hence, McMullin, a practicing Mormon, is the perfect third party candidate.

What does this do to the electoral map?

Well, it makes Trump’s path to victory even more difficult. Any state that’s not a win in Trump’s column is a win for Hillary Clinton. (Unless, of course, both candidates fall short of 270 electoral votes, sending the race to the House.)

While it may seem like the Trump campaign is in full panic mode from this revelation, there are still 12 percent of Utahns (according to the Emerson poll) who are undecided.
