Hillary Clinton continues to dominate Donald Trump in nearly all the national polls at this moment in the election. Except for one. And it just so happens to be the most accurate poll of the 2012 election.
The Investor’s Business Daily/TechnoMetrica Market Intelligence (IBD/TIPP) poll released on Wednesday shows Trump is leading Clinton by one point among likely voters nationwide, 41 to 40 percent.
With voters age 18-44 (millennials are in the 18-35 demographic), Clinton leads Trump 39 to 35 percent.
It’s not enough to say Trump will win the election. He still has a very difficult path ahead of him in key battleground states where he trails Clinton in Florida, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Nevada, Iowa, and even Arizona.
But with an upward tick in the national polls comes confidence, and Trump will at least be able to cite one poll in which he’s leading Clinton at his rallies and re-energize his base, even if Wednesday night’s debate in Las Vegas doesn’t play out well for him.
You got to give credit where it’s due: Trump is looking to make ~40 percent a winning number, which is something we’ve never seen in American politics. The only person to win the presidency with less than 50 percent of the vote was Bill Clinton in 1992 where he got 43 percent of the vote.
Now, it’s Trump’s turn to make 40 percent great again!
