Rep. Steve Stockman (R-Texas) knows a thing or two about young people, having spent some time working with Millennials at the Leadership Institute. And now, as a lawmaker in Congress, he knows the valuable role young Americans play for the future of the GOP — and just how the Republican Party can reach them.

Stockman sat down with Red Alert Politics to talk about the issues affecting Millennials today and what the future of the party looks like. Stockman, a social media connoisseur, noted Democrats’ ability to reach out to young people on Facebook and Twitter, and encouraged the GOP to add a little humor to their feeds.

The Texas Republican warned of the mounting national debt, which just reached $17 trillion. He said the out-of-control government spending is the foremost issue facing young Americans, and encouraged his fellow lawmakers to rein in the fiscal irresponsibility.
