Ga. man risks life to rescue beer from burning house

This guy sure knows what’s important to him.

A Georgia man recently ran back into his burning house to save his beer Thursday afternoon, Atlanta ABC affiliate KTRK reported.

Walter Serpit was among six adults and two children watching television inside a house in Columbus, Ga. house when the fire started. The group proceeded out of the house for safety, however Walter went back in when he remembered there was still beer in his fridge.

“I told them to get the kids out and everything, and me myself, being an alcoholic, I was trying to get my beer out,” Serpit told KTRK. “You feel me?”

Serpit was ultimately able to save multiple beer cans from the fridge amidst the flames. He walks with a cane, but he didn’t let that stop him from playing hero for his booze.

The residents believe the fire was caused by a recently installed water heater, but officials are still investigating the incident, according to ABC2News.com. The Red Cross is also helping the family to recover from the fire.
