No urgency in new contract for McNabb

New Redskins quarterback Donovan McNabb — and it’s still a little odd to type that sentence — isn’t worried about signing a contract extension. At least not yet. His agent, Fletcher Smith, said contract talks have not yet begun and that there’s no urgency to get a new deal done before the NFL Draft, which begins April 22.

McNabb has one year left on his contract.

“I don’t focus on that,” McNabb said. “But I do expect to be here and that’s the way I will prepare myself. I will prepare myself for years to come….One thing I can do is to make that situation harder, if it goes that way, and that’s by winning ballgames. If we win ballgames, that will answer a lot of the questions. I’m just going to prepare myself like I’m here and try to help this team win games.”
