When he was a young minor leaguer in the Los Angeles Kings system, Mike Cammalleri endeared himself to his coach, Bruce Boudreau.
The two formed a bond that endures. Cammalleri admitted to reporters this week that when his Montreal Canadiens were in the process of eliminating top-seeded Washington last week he had a hard time even looking at Boudreau on the Capitals’ bench.

The 27-year-old winger had five goals and five assists against the Caps — the biggest reason Montreal took advantage of its limited offensive chances in that series. And while his team fell behind the favored Pittsburgh Penguins 2-1 on Tuesday night, Cammalleri already has three goals in that series, too. So why is he playing so well?
“Teammates. Teammates making good plays,” Cammalleri said. “We get the puck into the right areas, and I’ve been on the end result a couple times.”
