Suggs practices only sparingly

Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs practiced lightly Wednesday, following a hamstring injury in Sunday?s game against the Cleveland Browns.

Suggs spoke with the media Monday about his enthusiasm in potentially facing San Diego Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson this Sunday. On Wednesday, Ravens head coach Brian Billick listed Suggs as questionable for the game.

If Suggs does not play, Gary Stills or Dan Cody would replace him, according to Billick. Stills was signed in the offseason to contribute mostly on special teams, while Cody has yet to play in a regular-season game during his two seasons. He sat out all last season with a knee injury and has been inactive through the first three weeks of the season.

“This would be a prime time for Dan to get up,” Billick said this week. “We will see how that progresses during the week. I don?t have any more information other than what they told you.”

Home sweet home: The Ravens enter this weekend?s game as the underdog, but they have recent history on their side. Since late 2004, the team is 12-4 inside the confines of M&T Bank Stadium. If the Ravens (3-0) win, it would match the franchise?s longest streak of victories since the 2000 season, when the team went on the Super Bowl.

Sacking the numbers: The Ravens are tied with the Philadelphia Eagles for the NFL lead in sacks at 16. Linebacker Bart Scott is also tied for the individual lead with Philadelphia defensive end Trent Cole at five. Conversely, the Ravens? offensive line has given up five sacks. The Chargers have allowed no sacks.

“The San Diego line hasn?t played the Baltimore Ravens yet,” Scott said. “They?ve done a good job, and it?ll be a good test for us.”

Chargers have eyes on prize: When Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman was asked in a conference call Wednesday if he wanted to taste the playoffs this season, he had bigger thoughts.

“You said the playoffs? Not just the playoffs, but a ring ? a Super Bowl ring,” Merriman said. “The playoffs are step one to get to, but we?ve got our sights on the total package of going to the Super Bowl. But right now, we have to take care of the Ravens first.”

Injury report: Besides Suggs, the following Ravens were listed as questionable for Sunday?s game: tight end Todd Heap (ankle), guard Edwin Mulitalo (arm), Scott (foot), and wide receiver Demetrius Williams (arm).
