In fantasy football, I believe that to succeed, sometimes you have to take a chance on a player. This year, there are several players worth taking a chance on.
Carson Palmer (Bengals)
Recommended Stories
He looked great in his preseason debut against the Packers, throwing for more than 100 yards and three touchdowns in a little less than two quarters. It looks like he is going to pick up where he left off after last year?s knee injury in the playoffs.
Daunte Culpepper (Dolphins)
He has looked strong this preseason, scrambling as he has in the past and connecting with Chris Chambers and Randy McMichael. He should return to the form he displayed two years ago as a Viking. Culpepper should also be good for a few rushing touchdowns.
Donovan McNabb (Eagles)
Last year was a disaster for McNabb, but 2006 should be a promising year as he tries to prove there is life after Terrell Owens. The Eagles have also given him a new weapon in Donte Stallworth. McNabb was a good quarterback before T.O., and he will be after.
Kurt Warner (Cardinals)
He already had two of the best receivers in the league in Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald. Now, running back Edgerrin James has been added. Enough said.
Julius Jones (Cowboys)
Big things were expected from Jones after his 2004 season. But he was never quite able to meet those expectations last year. This season could be completely different for him because he now has a strong receiving corps with T.O. and Terry Glenn. With those two hogging defenders? attention, Jones should have quite a few holes to run through.
Randy Moss (Raiders)
Moss and Kerry Collins were never quite able to build a solid relationship. That should change this year with Aaron Brooks now at the controls. Brooks will look for Moss much like Culpepper did when the two where in Minnesota. Moss should easily have double-digit touchdowns in 2006.
Chris Chambers (Dolphins)
Somebody has to be Culpepper?s Moss. Chambers can fulfill this role. He has posted decent fantasy numbers in the past with much worse quarterbacks.
Vernon Davis (49ers)
There are not very many rookies to talk about this year, but Davis is one that should post good fantasy numbers. He should be the beneficiary of several underneath passes from Alex Smith, who won?t have much time to look for anyone else. Davis could post an 80- to 90-catch season.
These are just a few of the players that could carry your team to a title.
So if you weren?t able to secure them in the draft, attempt to put together an attractive trade package for them. You may want to do it now before their stock soars.
Good luck … and keep in mind, I?m only an accountant.
