Scouting combine (Feb. 24-March 2)
The best part about this are the physicals and the interviews. But if a player jumps up too far after the combine, stay away. It means their workouts did not match their production, or lack thereof. And beware of players showing up needing a bro (or mansiere, if you prefer) like Andre Smith did last season.

Free agency (March 5)
Uncapped year + Dan Snyder = watch out. Because, of course, throwing lots of money at other team’s players has worked out so well in the past. This year will be interesting as fewer top young players will enter the market (unrestricted free agency can’t come until a player’s sixth year as opposed to the fourth under the current agreement).
Owner’s meetings (March 21-24)
Considering the labor issues for 2011, this will be an important four days in Orlando. Good thing Snyder won’t be bogged down having to take Vinny Cerrato to Space Mountain again. Problem is, the owners can’t even agree what to do amongst themselves, let alone with the players’ union. Watch how easy it is to screw up a good thing.
The NFL draft (April 22-24)
The Redskins pick fourth overall and face a choice: Do they pick quarterback Sam Bradford or a tackle such as Oklahoma State’s Russell Okung? Two topics sure to be overdone: comments on Mel Kiper‘s hair and mock drafts.
