Dennis Miller is back on the sports beat tonight on Versus at 10pm ET.
VERSUS, the network that celebrates real competition in all its forms, announces the debut of a new one-hour weekly series: Sports Unfiltered with Dennis Miller. From the producers of prime-time hit Hell’s Kitchen, A. Smith & Co. pairs Miller’s passion for sports with his comic prowess in this fresh and topical look at the current state of the sports world. The weekly series will air on Tuesday nights beginning November 6 at 10 p.m. ET.
Sports Unfiltered with Dennis Miller unleashes his cerebral and acerbic wit on the world of sports through a variety of segments featured in the show each week, including his signature “rant” about relevant sports news; his unvarnished take on the news using sports headlines and snapshots from the nation’s newspapers; and a combination of in-studio and remote interviews with the biggest newsmakers and celebrities from the sports community; among others.
“As VERSUS continues to grow as a national sports network, original series and studio programming are increasingly important in serving the fans, expanding viewership and establishing our brand,” said Gavin Harvey, President of the network. “Sports Unfiltered with Dennis Miller is a great complement to our live sports productions and is a major step towards the next level of our original programming evolution.”
“Dennis Miller offers a new voice to the sports fan which is both authentic and challenging, two of the core brand attributes that embodies who we are as a network,” said Marc Fein Senior Vice President of Programming and Production for VERSUS. “His thought-provoking approach to the current sports landscape will undoubtedly raise a few eyebrows and surely spark a healthy debate on the hottest issues in sports.”
Miller, who has been offering his sardonic slant on current events and pop culture since he first took over the Weekend Update desk on Saturday Night Live, will bring the same clever humor to the sports arena. “I’ll call ’em as I see ’em and hopefully I’ll see ’em better than the Home Plate ump in the San Diego Padres-Colorado Rockies tiebreaker game,” said Miller.
