At 2 p.m. Wednesday, Mike Shanahan will be named Redskins head coach at a news conference at Redskins Park. CSN, ESPNEWS, and ESPN 980AM will be among the outlets carring the press conference live. WUSA.COM and ESPN980.COM will have the conference online.
But the Washington media has been in full Shanahan watch since the Skins returned from San Diego late Sunday/early Monday.
Brett Haber at WUSA had former coach Jim Zorn leaving the Redskins Park early Monday morning.
Dan Hallie at NBC4 was the first to spot Shanahan at the airport.
FOX5, NBC4, ABC7 and WUSA had sound bites with him last night when he and his party had dinner at The Palm in Tysons.
All four stations — NBC4, FOX5, ABC7 and WUSA — were in full Redskins mode and the CSN team of Chick Hernandez and Kelli Johnson have also been camped out at Redskins Park and doing a fine job of covering the story.
ESPN 980AM has been on the air since 6 a.m. Wednesday talking about the new hire with Andy Pollin and Kevin Sheehan doing a special edition of Monday Morning QB Show and The Junkies at 106.7 The Fan have also been all over the story.
Shanahan is a very strong personality and he is not as open as Zorn. He is a more businesslike kind of a guy which make him less of a good quote than Zorn.
