» This is now like a preseason game with the number of backups in the game for San Diego. Fun times.
» And all the speculation is on Jim Zorn’s job; many, many reports say he’ll be fired Monday. Certainly he could press the issue after the game, but the Redskins would be wise to do it in the morning, after they get some sleep. My guess is, knowing Zorn, he’ll want to attend the press conference, or hold one of his own. But more on this later.
» The Redskins love that smoke route today; it worked well on Malcolm Kelly’s 12-yard catch and run that got them to the 10-yard line.
» On Todd Yoder’s touchdown catch, it did not appear that one Charger even looked at him as he went out on his route. Guess I can’t blame them, but that’s the only time he ever catches a pass.
» Welcome to the Redskins, Malcolm Kelly. It only took 32 games to make some sort of impact. Maybe the Redskins are looking more his way, but he appears to be running faster off the line than in the past. Has to be a sign that he knows the offense better, which is good since it will now change (even if it stays a West Coast one). But maybe this is a good sign for Washington going forward; if Kelly and Thomas can be legitimate players, then the offense has some building blocks for the passing game going forward. If not? Yikes.
» On Kelly’s 84-yard catch and run, it was a very nice throw by Jason Campbell. Kelly just ran down the left seam and Campbell delivered the ball before the safety could get there. Then it was a footrace.
» At least the Redskins haven’t quit; yes, the Chargers are playing their backups, but Washington hasn’t let that alter its mindset. So a nice drive to end the first half.
