Maryland basketball coach Mark Turgeon addressed an area of need, landing 7-foot-1 Olexiy Len on Monday. Perhaps the best news for Terrapins fans is that the Ukranian will join Maryland for the 2011-2012 season, becoming the ninth scholarship player on the roster. The 225-pound Len averaged 16.0 points, 11.4 rebounds and 4.3 blocks for the Ukraine national team in the 2010 under-18 European championships. “Coach Turgeon brings a new start to Maryland,” Len said via a press release. “For me, this is a brand new beginning as well.” – Kevin Dunleavy [email protected]
