Catherine back in rehab for bipolar disorder
Academy Award winner Catherine Zeta-Jones has entered a treatment facility to help deal with her bipolar disorder, TMZ reports.
The 43-year-old "Chicago" star announced her diagnosis of bipolar II disorder, which can cause depression and major mood swings, in April 2011, when she checked into a hospital in Connecticut "after dealing with the stress of the past year," her rep told Us Weekly.
Luckily, no major episodes triggered Catherine to seek help this time around; it is just a proactive measure, sources told TMZ. "It's maintenance," one source said.
The actress' rep told Us that "Catherine has proactively checked into a health care facility. Previously Catherine has said that she is committed to periodic care in order to manage her health in an optimum manner."
Catherine is expected to remain at the facility for 30 days.
In December of last year, Catherine opened up on "Good Morning America" about her disorder and how she deals with it, saying, "Everyone has things going on, and we deal with them the best we can. We can't jump from the rooftops shouting, 'I have this, look at me. Victim!' No, we all have issues in life. I'm really happy I have great friends, great support, and that's all I can do."
More power to you, Catherine, for staying on top of this and not letting it take over your life.
Carolyn Moos, the ex-fiancee of just-out-of-the-closet NBA star Jason Collins, had no idea that Jason was gay -- until now -- TMZ reports.
The couple dated for seven years and were engaged until Jason called it off in 2009. Good move, man.
According to the gossip website, "[Carolyn] never once suspected he was gay, so the news is shocking."
Jason told Carolyn the truth last weekend, just before going public. And he explained to her that being gay was the reason he called off their engagement. Um, duh.
Carolyn, who plays in the WNBA, told TMZ, "It's very emotional for me as a woman to have invested eight years in my dream to have a husband, soul mate and best friend in him. So this is all hard to understand."
But she's taking it like a champ, adding, "I care about [Jason] tremendously and only want the best for him. I want Jason to be happy for a lifetime and stay true to who he really is, inside and out."
That's taking the high road if we've ever seen it.
