President Trump on Wednesday sent his "prayers and condolences" to the families of students at a South Florida high school that was the site of a shooting reported to have left at least 20 people injured.

"My prayers and condolences to the families of the victims of the terrible Florida shooting," Trump tweeted. "No child, teacher or anyone else should ever feel unsafe in an American school."

"Just spoke to Governor Rick Scott. We are working closely with law enforcement on the terrible Florida school shooting," Trump added in another tweet.

Police in South Florida responded to reports of an active shooter on Wednesday at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla. The Broward Sheriff’s Office warned local residents to avoid the area.

According to WSVN, at least 20 people are injured. Police have yet to release any numbers related to deaths or injuries.
