Voter whom Biden called ‘lying, dog-faced pony soldier’ says candidate not ‘very solution-oriented’

The New Hampshire college student dubbed a “lying, dog-faced pony soldier” by Joe Biden said the former vice president delivered an underwhelming performance at the campaign event she attended.

“A lot of what he’s saying seems to be really sad,” said Madison Moore, who was in the crowd in Hampton, New Hampshire, on Sunday. “We had heard a lot about deaths and cancer and people losing their jobs, and to me, he doesn’t really seem very solution-oriented.”

Biden asked a group of prospective voters gathered at the town hall-style event if anybody in attendance had ever attended a caucus election such as the one in Iowa.

Moore raised her hand.

“No, you haven’t,” Biden quipped. “You’re a lying, dog-faced pony soldier.”

Biden’s remark appears to be a reference to the 1953 John Wayne movie Hondo.

A video clip of the short exchange rapidly spread online.

Biden has been slowly losing steam in most national polls, and a fourth-place finish at the Iowa caucuses last week cast doubt on his chances of securing the Democratic nomination.

“I don’t think he has the momentum to carry this to a national election,” Moore said about Biden after he placed fourth in the Iowa caucuses.

New Hampshire will hold its primary contest on Tuesday.
