The president signed an executive order addressing military spouse unemployment by providing greater opportunity for military spouses to be considered for federal competitive service positions, and holding agencies accountable for increasing their use of the non-competitive hiring authority for military spouses.

A key unemployment rating -- the number of people who know somebody out of work -- has dropped to hits lowest level yet, the latest sign that the economy and jobs market are back.

The Rasmussen Reports rating released Friday found that it has been cut practically in half from a high of 82 percent in 2011. Currently 46 percent of American adults know someone who is out of work and looking for a job.

Added Rasmussen:

The number of Americans who know someone who, out of frustration with the difficult job market, has given up looking for a job has also hit new lows. Just 25 percent now know someone who has given up the job search, down from 32 percent in the previous survey.

The shift appears to parallel improvements in the economy and the drop the unemployment rate.

What’s more, the polling outfit found near record high confidence in the jobs market. Some 45 percent said the market is better than a year ago.
