President Trump plans to offer his thoughts on the first Democratic debates in real time.
The president’s political advisers wanted to keep him off Twitter during next week’s debates, arguing his tweets could help elevate potential challengers, the Wall Street Journal reported.
The advisers said Trump could still change his mind.
The debates are spread over two nights, June 26-27, with 10 candidates appearing on the debate stage each night.
Elizabeth Warren, Cory Booker, Julián Castro, Bill de Blasio, John Delaney, Tulsi Gabbard, Jay Inslee, Amy Klobuchar, Beto O’Rourke, and Tim Ryan face off the first night.
Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders, Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg, Kirsten Gillibrand, Michael Bennet, John Hickenlooper, Eric Swalwell, Marianne Williamson, and Andrew Yang take the debate stage the following night.
Trump has already attacked several of the candidates via his favorite social media platform and while speaking to reporters. In recent months he has most frequently taken aim at Biden, who is seen as the front-runner and has polled better than Trump in some states.
