Michael Avenatti, lawyer to porn star Stormy Daniels, tied allegations of domestic violence on a far-right conspiracy theorist who was reportedly behind an attempt to smear special counsel Robert Mueller with phony sexual misconduct allegations last month.
“First Mueller and now me,” Avenatti tweeted a day after his arrest in Los Angeles.
“When we are fully exonerated I am coming for you Jacob Wohl aka Surefire,” he added, referring to the 20-year-old conspiracy theorist and an apparently fake private intelligence agency named Surefire Intelligence.

After Avenatti’s arrest Wednesday on suspicion of domestic violence, a Twitter account for Surefire Intelligence tweeted: “Surefire Intelligence strikes again.”

Avenatti did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the Washington Examiner about whether he had additional details about the alleged involvement of Wohl or Surefire.
TMZ originally reported Avenatti had allegedly been in an altercation with his ex-wife. The ex-wife denied any incident with Avenatti and said he had never been abusive in their relationship. It’s unclear who, if anyone, was involved in the alleged incident, and Avenatti did not respond to the Washington Examiner’s request for clarification. Avenatti called the claims “completely bogus.”
Surefire was linked to a scheme targeting Mueller in October, in which women were offered money to make false claims about him. The matter was referred to the FBI, a spokesman for the special counsel said.
A day before the matter spilled into public view, Wohl sent a tweet predicting a “scandalous story” about Mueller.
Information about Surefire, including its official phone number and its website domain records, were found to be linked to Wohl.
