New Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez said on Friday that President Trump and House Speaker Paul Ryan "don't give a shit about people" while rallying support for Democrats.

He made the comment in Newark, N.J., at an event held by the New Jersey Working Families Alliance, while panning the failed Republican healthcare bill that was meant to repeal and replace Obamacare. Noting the several nicknames for the America Health Care Act, like Trumpcare and Ryancare names after the president and House speaker respectively, Perez said he didn't care what people chose to call it. "It is an age tax," he said, adding that it "does not reflect our values as a nation."

During the high-energy speech, Perez also called Trump a "bully" and condemned his frequent weekend visits to his Florida estate, the Mar-a-Lago.

He noted that while Trump won the election on Jan. 20, the following day "the resistance took over," heaping praise on the protesters who demonstrated in Washington, D.C.

Perez also expressed his opposition to Trump's Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch and said Democrats will work to end political gridlock.
