Benjamin Netanyahu thinks peace is possible with Palestinians not associated with Hamas

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that he thinks it’s possible for Israel to have peace with the Palestinians.

“Yes, I think it’s possible,” Netanyahu told CBS News Tuesday evening. “Not with those Palestinians like Hamas, who call for a destruction. But I see peace with any one of our neighbors who’s willing to live in peace, I think yes. I think it’s possible.”

Netanyahu said he already sees peace happening in the Middle East and surrounding regions.

“I see it already now. We have peace with Egypt. We have peace with Jordan,” Netanyahu said.

On Monday the U.S. and Israel held an official dedication ceremony in Jerusalem for the move of the U.S. Embassy from Tel Aviv to Israel’s capital city.

Last year, Trump declared that the U.S. would officially recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, and later announced that the U.S. Embassy would move there in May.

Palestinians engaged in protests Monday at the Gaza border as the embassy officially opened, and 58 Palestinians were shot dead by Israeli gunfire while more than 2,500 others were injured in the protests.
