The Duke of Cambridge kept a COVID-19 diagnosis under wraps so as not to worry people in the United Kingdom around the same time that Prime Minister Boris Johnson tested positive for the virus.
“There were important things going on, and I didn’t want to worry anyone,” Prince William said.
William tested positive in April, shortly after his father, Prince Charles. William struggled with a severe bout of the virus but tried to impart a sense of calm when Johnson was hospitalized, the Sun reported.
“William was hit pretty hard by the virus – it really knocked him for six,” a source told the Sun. “At one stage he was struggling to breathe, so obviously everyone around him was pretty panicked.”
He was treated by palace doctors and followed government guidelines by isolating at the family home, Anmer Hall, in Norfolk. There, he continued to carry out his regular engagements while remaining in self-isolation.
