Former FBI Director James Comey revealed in recent interviews that his wife and daughters voted for Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election.
“She very much wanted a woman president; she very much wanted Hillary Clinton to be the first woman president,” Comey said of his wife, Patrice, in an interview published Monday with USA Today.
In a Sunday interview with ABC News, Comey said he’s “pretty sure” his kids wanted Clinton to win the White House.
“I didn’t take a poll among all the kids, but I’m pretty sure that at least my four daughters, probably all five of my kids, wanted Hillary Clinton to be the first woman president,” he said.
“There was a lot of passion in this house for Hillary Clinton. I get that,” he continued. “But again, I hope it illustrates to people that I really wasn’t making decisions based on political fortunes.”
Comey said his daughters and wife also marched in the Women’s March the day after Trump was inaugurated.
Clinton has blamed Comey, at least partly, for her loss to Trump over his handling of the FBI’s investigation into her private email server. Comey announced shortly before the election that the FBI had discovered new emails, but later said no new information had been uncovered.

Clinton’s campaign has said the announcements stalled her momentum in the final days of the campaign.
As for his wife and daughters, Comey doesn’t think they fault him for Clinton’s loss.
“I don’t think they blamed me. They blamed circumstance,” he said.
